03 ottobre oopsActually, my other blog is http://polarvenka.livejournal.com. Polarvenka was brought up by a random name generator, nothing more. I like livejournal because it has such fancy features as letting me write in paragraphs, unlike msn. So I update it more than this one, and it will be my blog for this year. Byeeee!! 27 agosto Just wanted to let everyone know that hotmail and msn messenger doesn't work on the university computers (they're crappy Windows 98 ones) so I haven't been able to receive emails since arriving here. I'll write more soon because the computer room is closing soon, but all you need to know is that I'm OK, my room mate is nice and my Chinese is slowly getting better. It's sooo different here, I can't even begin to describe it. And I don't have my wire to put pictures on the PC.
It is absolutely boiling hot and I can't understand anyone. I can't even understand this computer, it's all in Japanese for some reason. 03 agosto LookI changed my display picture to a photo of me looking miserable. It looks like I played around with the brightness and contrast in the time-honoured Myspace style, but actually what I did was put my camera on night mode and on the timer, and it came out looking all arty. I might change it soon though, because I look a bit sober.
Another long day at work, another £50 in my bank account next month. Today I have mostly been brandishing power tools and building more shelves. Roast turkey for lunch, with water-thin gravy.
It's nice going to bed at a normal time though, and actually being tired enough to fall asleep straightaway. My shift begins at 8.30 so my sleep patterns are pretty much back to normal sociable hours. In July, when I was doing sod all, I would stay up all night on tinternet then fall asleep as it was getting light, then wake up at 3pm. So I was awake when everyone was asleep, and at all the wrong times to ever think about doing anything with my day, e.g. leaving the house. I'm glad all that's over. 03 novembre The Bra to End All Bras.I'm very tired and feeling like poo for various reasons.
On a lighter note, I today bought myself the Bra to End All Bras, and it is actually so pretty that I wish I could legally walk around topless just so I could show it off. If you saw it you'd want to do the same. And if you're a bloke, you'd want breasts just so you could wear this bra.
I also applied for a job in Monsoon which I just KNOW I won't get cause about a hundred other people have applied. Bah humbug.
My sty came back - serves me right for wearing my contact lenses too soon. 22 settembre .OK so I've been here for five days now, I would have updated earlier but I just haven't had a spare minute. Thing is I don't want to spend too much time in my room, because I'm worried that if I miss out on a minute of everyone else's socialising they'll move on without me and have all these new in-jokes and that.
This week has been a big mash of going to endless meetings at the university, walking/cycling/bussing to and from campus and queuing up at the checkout in Somerfield. Headingley, as it happens, isn't all that bad but it's still focking miles away from the university. There are so many students here that locals are something of a rarity.
Today a girl from another flat set off the fire alarm by burning her bacon. It was well funny but the security staff took like 20 minutes to get here (they gave us sweets though). What if that was a real fire? I'll just try not to think about it.
I haven't got around to exploring Leeds yet because I've been too busy settling into my studenty coccoon. The city centre looks amazing but the buses are always packed so it's difficult to get around.
Today I registered so I am now officially a Student at the University of Leeds. I have a student ID card and everything. It's really funny cause on my photo I have a face like a slapped arse after queuing for three hours to get all my forms stamped and my picture taken.
My lecturer for Chinese isn't very nice - she told me off for not having a pen and wouldn't let me take Arabic as an elective. Maybe all Chinese people are like that, I don't know.
OK so I'm off to heat up the tuna and pasta bake that I made yesterday (I'm quite proud of it, it was my first attempt and it even turned out semi-edible).
